United strode into the First Round Proper of the AXA sponsored FA Cup for the first time in seven years. An injury depleted Yeading were simply steamrollered by a performance of mouth watering pace and movement.

The early exchanges were fairly even, although both Marshall and Bangura went close inside the first ten minutes. The noisy and colourful travelling contingent didn't have to wait long for the visitors to take the lead. A Clarke cross was headed goalwards by Marshall, Jimmy in the home goal made a good save, however Marshall was able to convert the rebound.

Inside a minute it was Ducks 2, Marshall 2, as the ex-Luton man once again fired home from close range.

Shortly after, Yeading had their best move of the match, however Wheeler comfortable saved a rather tame shot. Yeading again had a chance to reduce the arrears, however the resulting shot went well wide, as the home side enjoyed their best spell of the game.

United soon made it three, as on 37 minutes, Dwain Clarke ignored the obvious pass and played a fantastic ball of great vision into the path of Maynard, as United broke at pace. Maynard took one touch and chipped the hapless Jimmy, making his debut, from all of 35 yards.

The second period produced much of the same and it only took five minutes for Marshall to complete his hat-trick, after the keeper fumbled a long ball forward and Marshall was able to tap home from close range.

On the hour, Marshall and Joe departed to be replaced by Steve Clark and Stanbridge.

Five minutes later, Dwain Clarke capped his best performance to date in a Ducks shirt by firing home an unstoppable free kick from 30 yards to make it 5-0.

Williams fired in a long-range effort, however United seemed content to see out the remainder of the match and with it a place in the First Round and a trip to the Potteries to take on Port Vale
