Three months after their first meeting the two sides were still only two points apart, but with seven teams being seperated by a point this victory moved Aylesbury nine places above their visitors. United were suffering something of a goal drought going into the game, having netted only once in three matches. But Kevin Day changed all that firing home a twenty yard volley to record his first for the Greens. Winston Whittingham proffited from a rare Tim Garner error to equalise, but the home side were ahead again just after the restart in somewhat controversial circumstances. Andy Robinson tried a shot from distance which accidentally hit Darren Collins in the area. Collins looked offside, but the referee waved play on as the prolific striker took full advantage of his good fortune. Paul Timson was dismissed for a second bookable offence before Cliff Hercules wrapped things up with a close range header. |
