Aylesbury finally shook off the challenge of Northwood to advance in the FA Cup through Gavin Jaggard's second half brace, his first goals of the season.

Danny Nicholls made one change, an enforced switch in defence with Liam Dolman unavailable. It meant a recall for Neil Lazarus with Greg Williams dropping back.

The first half was somewhat slower starting than Saturday's flyer, Luke Evans heading wide for the visitors from Frazer Tom's free-kick early on.

Paul Edgeworth had a couple of shots, the first comfortably held by Northwood's goalkeeper Dean Lindsay, the second over the bar.

The clearest opening of the first half fell to the ever hard working Jaggard. Gary Crawshaw did well to win the ball back in midfield, before playing in his strike partner who got a shot away inside the area which Lindsay parried at the near-post.

United were seeing plenty of posession but they seemed unable to turn it into the chances they needed.

Ten minutes before the break Jaggard should've put his side ahead. Lazarus' drilled low effort was deflected wide for a corner. The resulting set piece found Dean Powles who had an effort palmed away by Lindsay. The ball dropped to Jaggard 3-yards out, but he blazed over the bar.

Half-time: Aylesbury 0-0 Northwood

Jaggard quickly made amends for his miss by giving Aylesbury the lead six minutes into the first half. A through ball cut out the unfortunate Evans, struggling at that point with a knock, and found Jaggard who ran on and superbly placed the ball over Lindsay. 1-0 Aylesbury

Aylesbury continued to see enough of the ball, but Northwood continued to scrap away making life difficult right across the pitch.

Substitute Harry Howell drew a smart save from Rashid, the ball went loose but there was no Northwood player to find the finish.

A long spell of posession from the Woods ended with Darren Grieves heading over the bar from close range, having jumped highest with time seemingly running at half speed for Aylesbury.

With Northwood pushing forard in the closing stages, Aylesbury capitalised in the best manner by netting a second to finally put the tie to bed. Crawshaw put Lazarus away down the right flank, and his pinpoint cross picked out Jaggard who got ahead of his man to fire home. 2-0 Aylesbury

Howell shot wide late on, but there was no time for a response from the visitors, despite Mr Belbin finding a large amount of stoppage time to add on and it was Aylesbury who moved into the 3rd Qualifying Round.
