David Seal's late equaliser denied Aylesbury all three points and a third successive victory after the Ducks had lead for most of this Southern League encounter at Buckingham Road.

Manager Danny Nicholls made one change to the team which beat Cirencester, with Paul Edgeworth returning to midfield in place of Dean Powles.

Mangotsfield made the early chances, albeit speculators from distance. Winger David Anyinsah had a long range shot comfortably held by Rashid, before Ross Casey struck a firm drive which Rashid had to be more alert to deal with.

Twelve minutes gone though and Edgeworth it was who gave United the perfect start. Gavin Jaggard held the ball up well, before laying it back to Neil Lazarus who delivered a probing cross that caused mayhem in the Mangos' defence, and Edgeworth arrived to fire home. 1-0 Aylesbury

Aylesbury's approach was excellent throughout, as they fought for every ball and passed well, yet once again they were lacking conviction in front of goal.

Leon Gordon drifted infield, but his shot went wide of the post.

The closest the visitors came to equalising was another shot from Anyinsah, which was headed over the bar by the imperious Rob Gould.

United then had the final chance of the half, as Lazarus laid the ball off to Mead, who dribbled forward fifteen yards but could only drive the ball narrowly wide.

The second half began with Casey curling an effort well over the bar for Mangotsfield.

Scott McCafferty then spurned two good chances to double Aylesbury's advantage. Lazarus' run down the left resulted in a low ball into the area, but McCafferty could only scuff the ball wide. His second attempt was closer, yet still curled wide, this time Gordon the provider.

It was Gavin Jaggard who had Aylesbury's best chance to go two-up though. Intricate passing around the penalty box finally gave the striker chance to get a shot away, but with the goal gaping he fired over.

United's inability to find a second goal always meant Mangotsfield had a chance, even though the home defence had rarely been threatened thus far.

Daniel Mead blazed an effort well over the bar, before Roni Joe replaced Neil Lazarus.

Mangotsfield scored their seemingly inevitable equaliser late on, ironically as a result of a counter attack after a glorious chance for Aylesbury to net. Edgeworth had raced onto a long ball and had the opportunity to break free, but his touch allowed a defender to close in and clear. The ball was quickly worked to Anyinsah, who played in David Seal, and the Australian forward finished with aplomb off the far post. 1-1

Although Aylesbury rallied in the final stages, they had clearly run out of steam, and the visitors could have snatched an underserved winner with the last kick. Luke Prince collected the ball and crashed a dipping 25-yard effort against the bar.

A point won against the League's 2nd placed team would have been considered an excellent result before the match, but the Ducks will know all too well this was a game they could and should have won.
